What are peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that serve as essential building blocks for proteins and play a vital role in numerous biological processes. They are involved in functions such as cell signaling, immune response, and tissue repair, making them invaluable in both scientific research and therapeutic applications. Despite their immense potential, only few scientists, doctors, and researchers truly understand the remarkable benefits peptides offer. From advancing medical treatments to unlocking new frontiers in biotechnology, peptides are paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries.
Are your peptides tested for quality?
Yes, as stated previously all our product are third party tested to ensure 99% purity and quality assurance, whilst we offer a money back guarantee to those who can prove otherwise. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are available upon request.
How should I store my peptides?
Storing peptides correctly is crucial to maintaining their stability, integrity, and effectiveness. Here’s a detailed guide on how to store peptides to ensure they remain in optimal condition:
1. Storage Before Reconstitution (Lyophilized Peptides)
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides are typically stable at room temperature for short periods, but for long-term storage, follow these guidelines:
- Temperature: Store lyophilized peptides at -20°C (freezer) or -80°C for even better preservation. Avoid frequent temperature fluctuations.
- Container: Keep peptides in their original, airtight vials to prevent exposure to moisture and air.
- Protection from Light: Protect peptides from direct light by storing them in opaque containers or wrapping the vials in aluminum foil.
2. Reconstituted Peptides (in Solution)
Once peptides are reconstituted with a solvent (e.g., water or buffer), they become more prone to degradation. Proper handling is essential:
- Temperature: Store reconstituted peptides in the refrigerator at 2–8°C for short-term use (up to 1-2 weeks). For longer storage, freeze the solution at -20°C or lower.
- Aliquoting: Divide the reconstituted solution into smaller aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can degrade the peptide.
- Solvent Type: Use sterile, high-purity solvents to reconstitute peptides, as impurities can affect stability and efficacy.
3. Handling Best Practices
- Minimize Exposure: Limit the time peptides are exposed to room temperature during handling to prevent thermal degradation.
- Use Desiccants: Store lyophilized peptides with desiccants to reduce humidity exposure.
- Avoid Freeze-Thaw Cycles: Repeated freezing and thawing can break down the peptide structure. Always use aliquots to prevent this issue.
- Check Stability Information: Review the manufacturer’s or supplier’s stability data for your specific peptide to ensure proper handling.
4. Monitoring and Quality Control
- Inspect Regularly: Check for signs of degradation, such as discoloration or cloudiness in reconstituted solutions.
- Label Storage Dates: Keep track of when peptides were stored or reconstituted to ensure they are used within their stability period.
By adhering to these storage practices, you can maximize the shelf life and effectiveness of your peptides, ensuring reliable results in your research or applications. If in doubt, always consult the peptide manufacturer or supplier for specific storage recommendations.
